Fame

I had a wonderful book reading session online with a School in Hampshire recently. One of the questions I was asked during this session was ‘are you famous?’ Fame, above all else seemed to be the pinnacle of many of these young children’s aspirations. I told them that they should focus on trying to find a career and occupation that they really love. How is it that as a nation we are breeding a generation of children who aspire to be famous. Time

‘I never have enough time’ is a common phrase we hear in our everyday lives but what, exactly, is time? It is, essentially, a construction that we, as humans, have devised to make sense of the world around us. It is an ephemeral measure of a day and how we structure what we do through it. Read More →

How would I keep my book Instagram page updated? How would I keep in touch with my friends? Read More →

Doing what we love

I have been having a recent discussion with my brother over Christmas about jobs. A lot of people do jobs that they don’t often enjoy but that give them the opportunity to create the sort of life they want around their jobs. Read More →

Settling Down

Why is it that we are conditioned to believe that we need to live our lives as well as we can so that we can reach the goal of one day settling down with another person.

The words ‘settling down’ imply that one must have been pretty wild to have something to settle down from and I don’t honestly think that anyone really is.  It also implies that once the person to ‘settle down with’ has been found that is then it- feet up, slippers on…there will be no more worries or need to strive or do anything any more. Failure

I recently was listening to an interview by Elizabeth Day about failure and it got me thinking about failures I have had in my life. Read More →
