What a magical time at the book launch. I felt so happy to be bringing George into the world in such a wonderful setting. The London Museum of Water and Steam has always been such a special place to me.
Here is a poem I wrote for the occasion.
Thank you for taking the time to meet George.
My strong emotional armour I carefully forge
Is now a little loose because you are all here
And I realise I have nothing to fear.
The steam museum is very special to me. The garden was where I used to love to be.
The reassuring puff of pistons pumping
While inside my heart and nerves are thumping.
I will always feel inadequate, that’s just how I am… but with a bit of imagination I can create a world where all one’s dreams come true… life is always beautiful for me and you!
I used to think if I worked really, really hard
I could re-write any wrongs inflicted on my family, friends and animals too.
But sometimes it seems too much to ask.. working away an impossible task.
But moments like this I remember it’s worth
Celebrating the magic and beauty of this blessed earth.
Thank you to Maude- our fourth story and of you i am constantly awed.
Shaun for bringing my stories to life- my right hand man, putting up with all the strife.
I have my faith to guide me, family to ground me and friends to support me so feel so lucky indeed.
Like a caged bird, thanks to you, is now freed!
